oh, banks. basically the baddest bitch around. real name jillian banks, you might remember that i featured her in my artists to watch 2014 post and so far, girl is certainly living up to the infinitely high standards to which being included in a littlecity post demands.
with previous production by sohn, TEED, lil silva and jamie woon, and tim anderson, she effortlessly matches her stunning vocals with on-point soundscapes. this time, she teamed up with the love of my life and number 4 on my list of future husbands, shlohmo. “brain” is a gritty, powerful number, climaxing with intense, almost abrasive beats and layers of atmospheric backing vocals and banks’ haunting hooks. it’s been on loop most of the past week.
i, for one, cannot wait to see what else banks has in store for this year! hopefully a show in montreal is in the works.
