i’m going to keep it short and sweet today, what with it being the holidays and my being lazy. natch. anyway, i found this little gem while listening exploring nils frahm’s catalog for my last music monday post. douglas dare is a singer/songwriter from southwest england, signed to erased tapes (the same label as frahm).
having grown up with a piano player father, dare began composing instrumental music, studied music in school, and started songwriting in 2008. the result? off-kilter production enmeshed between melancholic piano chords, touched with dare’s alt-pop meets dark-indie vocals. his debut EP, seven hours dropped under erased tapes in september of this year. the above, his debut single, lungful, has been a personal favourite of mine to just zone out to – the bridge’s quick trickling piano riffs are ideal for first snowfalls and long drives down the highway.
